There is no ER on base. The base recommends you go to the Pordenone ER, which is about 10-15 minutes from the base. Our experience with urgent care wasn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t that great. I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve never known this hospital to give out pain killers ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú even in child birth. Our son broke his arm and they sent us home, telling us to have him not move it..he was 2, so that was a problem to get a 2 year old to not move his arm. They had us come back the next day to have it put in a cast, but they set it wrong and we had to have it reset at the clinic on base.
I gave birth at the clinic on base and I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t sing the praises of the staff enough!

Our Hospital does not have an ER, so you have to go to Pordenone hospital is it is after hours! If this happens, you want to be sure and call the base command post and ask for a translater prior to getting there! You can do this by simply calling the base operator and asking to be connected to the command post!

If your child has orthodontics, you can continue to receive care on base at Aviano ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù and it will cost you nothing! In fact, as an adult dependent, even I was able to finish my orthodontic care on base for ?¢‚Ǩ?ìfree?¢‚Ǩ¬ù ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù but we had to receive special permission for me to transfer once we got our orders. They wanted to make sure that I hadn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t run out to get my braces put on right before PCSing so I could get the care for free?¢‚Ǩ¬¶:) (I hadn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t.)
I know some people will say to wait until you PCS overseas to get your children braces, because then you won?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have to pay for it. I would be careful of that: you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re at the mercy of the military dental care deeming braces ?¢‚Ǩ?ìnecessary?¢‚Ǩ¬ù; and you may also run into scheduling difficulty or outright refusal to outfit dependents with braces due to scheduling/manpower constraints. Preferably, research your options before you even get orders.
