Emily M. shares about housing off installation: During your stay at Fort Benning you may have several housing options. You may live either on or off post. When living on post you forfeit your BAH or Basic Allowance for Housing. If you decide to live off post and if you are eligible you will receive a BAH. This housing allowance is provided to help cover the cost of living off post.

Fort Benning Off Post Housing - You may decide to either rent a home or apartment or purchase a home.

Fort Benning homes for rent - A list of off post homes for rent is available online to assist you in choosing the rental with the right amenities price bedrooms bathrooms and square footage.

Fort Benning Apartments for Rent - Some properties offer military discounts and usually the discount is stated on the listing for your convenience.

Fort Benning homes for sale - Building equity in a home offers both officers and enlisted soldiers more financial freedom and lessens the tax burden. Owning a home can help you build personal wealth and give you the security in knowing that you have made a long-term investment for your family’s future. Your BAH can be used to pay your mortgage payment.

Median home price Columbus GA: $161000

Median home price Phenix City AL: $135000

Rental price range: $500-1300 per month

Depending upon where you choose to live in Columbus or Phenix City the commute to Fort Benning can range from 10-35 minutes. Traffic is usually not an issue as there is a four lane highway leading into the post and a two lane highway that leads to main post and the off exits.

*If you choose to live off-post please complete independent research/observation in person regarding the safety of the area you are choosing to live in.

Emily M. shares about housing on installation: Fort Benning Family Communities family housing units for military personnel choosing to live on-post. Welcome Center & Leasing Office is located at 601 Lumpkin Road our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We may be reached by phone and fax. Office: 706-685-3939 x600 fax: 706-689-9897

You have several options available. Subject to availability you may live on post. You may also qualify to either rent or purchase off-post.

Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on post or you can live off post. If you live off post you can either rent or buy.

The number to the Fort Benning GA Housing office is 706-685-3939 ext. 600.

Waiting time varies for each location on post. Temporary lodging may be necessary when you first arrive on post and while you are waiting assignment to on post housing. If you have decided to stay on post there is usually a waiting list at the housing office. You can make reservations at the local Fort Benning hotels while you are waiting. You will be contacted as soon as on post housing becomes available.

The resident and an FBFC representative will complete a Move-In Inspection verifying the condition of the home upon move-in. They will inspect the house together and make note of any damages to the house so that FBFC can perform any necessary repairs. If repairs are not practical the Move-In Report will note the existing damage so that the new resident will not be held responsible for any pre-existing damage when they move-out. After a thorough inspection of the home the resident shall provide written acceptance of the Premises “as is" except for those conditions noted on the Move-in Inspection. No agreements have been made regarding future repairs unless specified in the Move-In Inspection.

FBFC requires a written 60-day notice of intent to vacate prior to vacating the home including at the end of the lease term. Immediate permanent change of station (PCS) orders or discharge from active service will be an exception to this policy and the 60-day notice provision will be waived. Residents can obtain the notice to vacate form from a staff member in their neighborhood management office who can answer any questions regarding the move-out process.

Residents are normally required to visit the neighborhood management office when delivering the notice of intent to vacate in order to coordinate the actions required to clear family housing including terminating the service member’s BAH allotment scheduling the move-out inspection and providing forwarding information.

Kari S. shared: Regarding housing on installation: There are 680 housing units at Hurlburt; 52 are allocated for officers and 628 are for enlisted. The wait time to move on base can be any where from 6 months to 1 year. In the mean time they do offer you base housing on Eglin AFB when available which is 25 mins away. The housing for Hurlburt is older housing and split up into two places one at Soundside right out of the front gate on the water and the other at Cammando Village which is out of the back gate of the base. The houses range from very small two bedrooms to large 4 bedrooms. Most people prefer to live on Soundside.

Regarding housing off installation: Parish Point and the surrounding subdivisions in Mary Esther are a wonderful neighborhoods where many military members active duty and retired live. Although traffic can be congested at times many military members choose to live in Navarre. It is only about 10 miles from base but getting home in traffic could take you 30 mins to an 1 hour. The rent is a cheaper and the houses are bigger with bigger and more family style communities.

Housing on installation?

2008-2011
We lived in Perkins Village, Company Grade Officer Housing. Housing is old, no carpet, washer and dryer in kitchen, Mostly 4bedrooms but some 3 bedrooms. Bugs like cockroaches can be a problem but just have pest control come once a month and it shouldnt be a problem.

Housing off installation?
Never lived off post. But I knew people who did. A lot of people live in Alabama because its cheaper but I believe the schools arent as nice. In Georgia Harris County schools are suppose to be good.

The lower level officer housing is adequate, but for the mid to high level officers the housing is stunning! This post has so much history, and if you ever get the chance to tour Riverside(the General?「どィび「s home), it is exceptional!! We chose to purchase a home off-post, because the wait times were too long. We also like being close to nearby shopping and entertainment, while only having a short drive to Benning.

The newer NCO housing on Fort Benning is beautiful. The houses have plenty of room and are well put together. The living rooms are kind of small but the kitchen and dining rooms are huge. The upstairs has 3 bedrooms that are a good size as well.
