Rebecca R. asks: Looking for HOMESCHOOLING options in the Ft. Carson area...Thanks!

Juliana B. says: K12 international! It's a free online homeschool system & they provide all the materials to include a computer and reimburse you so much for the Internet semesterly. :). Www.k12.com

Cherie B. says: Connections Academy.  This is our first year with them and have been thrilled with the program.

Jackie W. says: Pikes Peak Parents will be doing the Education Expo soon.  Check their website for more details.  http://pikespeakregionhomeschoolcoop.org/

Paula T. says: http://www.mwrfortcarson.com/cyss-home-schools.php. K12 and Connections are NOT homeschool options. They are online PUBLIC and PUBLIC school options.

Rebecca R. says: We are 6th year homeschoolers and I always pick my own curriculum and have never used the public school at home choices-though I'm not against them. We're very relaxed homeschoolers and hate deadlines! : ) I was mainly wondering if anyone used the 'private school' option and if it worked for them/is it worth it....or should I just stay on my own.

Teresa S. says: We Homeschool at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs. My sons attend Mountain Vista Homeschool Academy one day a week and attend after school activities there. MVHSA is in district 2. You retain your Homeschool status while attending MVHSA. The teachers and staff are wonderful. We have a lot of military families that attend MVHSA. MVHSA is very supportive to our unique needs. Peterson AFB Homeschool group is becoming more active. They can be found online at yahoo groups.

Schools/Special Ed/Education options : Carson is a compassion post, so the percentage of family members in EFMP is higher than normal. Fountain-Fort Carson School District #8 manages the schools on post and in the town of Fountain. The district receives a number of grants due to its high population of military children. There is a one-to-one laptop program at the high school, so students are issued a laptop for school use. The percentage of military students in FFC8 is approximately 70%+. A full-time MFLC is on staff at the high school, as well as the other schools.

Our experience with Fountain Fort Carson school district 8 is also very good. Our 3 children all went to Abrams Elementary on Chiles Ave. and we love the school and staff. They work great with our children and have great communication with us.Our son was on an IEP and by the time he graduated from 5th grade, due to the hard work and devotion of the faculty and himself,he was able to come off of it before entering Carson Middle.
Carson Middle on the other hand, isn’t working with my son the way his grade school did, unfortunately. The communication isn’t good at all and alot of the teachers my son have don’t seem to teach him the way he needs to be taught. We are working on this issue ,however.

My kindergartener goes to a District 49 school (Ridgeview Elementary) and it’s wonderful. I love the school, teachers and programs they have. He goes to a before and after school program due to my work schedule at a nearby daycare facility…The Sunshine House and they too are great. Both the school and the daycare are within 1/2 mile from my house, which is perfect for us.
