Housing on installation?

Tell us how your experience. I lived in North Fort, it was the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìnewest?¢‚Ǩ¬ù for that time before Palmetto Terrace was build. The service was great, I loved Picernes cookies and the ladies where always very helpful. If anything needed to be fixed they send someone really fast . Because my spouse was deployed and I went ahead and got the house 5 months before they came back, the waiting list was about 3 weeks. I wasn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t there for the move out inspection tho, so I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t give details about that one.

Housing off installation?

Tell us, give us tips! Living in Lousiiana is really cheap. Rent prices start from $500 to 1k + in houses. As in apartments there are a couple in the area, not the best ones but they are okay. We also lived in Mona Lisa Apartments and paid $425 a month so we got to save money. There are Chaparral Apartments, Timberidge, Country Acres and another one that I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t remember the name. They run from $500-800 a month, depending if you want a small apt or a town house.

If you need to find a place you can go to the realtor offices around Leesville, they are very helpfull or just go on post to the housing office, they will print a list for you with all the available rentals and you can go from there.

Trafic if you live on post can be al ittle heavy but nothing out of the normal range. We live off post so my husband has to leave 25-30 minutes before he has to be at work so he gets there on time.

On-post housing at Ft. Polk is a bit of a challenge. Most people feel like they are living in housing that is smaller than their family requires. As mentioned there are not that many new homes but they are renovating them.
If you are looking to live off-post there are three common locations. Deridder (south of Fort Polk about 20-25 minutes) Rosepine (between Deridder and Fort Polk about 15-20 minutes) Leesville (north of Fort Polk about 10-15 minutes).
There are many newer subdivisions being built in the area. There are also some nicer older homes in ?¢‚Ǩ?ìdowntown?¢‚Ǩ¬ù Deridder around the park and high school.
For a lot of families community is what makes living at Fort Polk enjoyable. There are a lot of subdivisions off-post that are almost all military. Off-post homes are about 160-210 depending of course of size, age etc.

Picerne Military Housing is decent housing management company, as we were more than familiar with them coming from Fort Bragg, NC. However, this isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t the same Picerne we were used to. Picerne at Fort Bragg took the time to demolish and rebuild, redoing the homes the right way. Sure, they ran across issues, but they bent over backwards to make ?¢‚ǨÀúem right and do right by our soldiers. That isn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t the case here. Here, they slap a bandaid on it and call it a day, no one over-extends themselves unless you threaten ICE complaints. These houses are dilapidated and in need of extensive repairs, not just a new coat of paint and let?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s call it a day. We lost two computers within two weeks of each other due to power surges (that the maintenance MANAGER blamed on ?¢‚Ǩ?ìlight bulbs,?¢‚Ǩ¬ù I kid you not!), we had a tree fall in our back yard, a flood in our front yard in which they dug my nicely maintained grass and planted crap as a result which is now dead, and so many more things I can?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t even begin to tell you about in it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s entirety or I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢d be here all day. All in all, the housing here is a joke. Find a place off post, if you can, or elect not to come here at all.
