Base housing has all been privatized. They are still in the process of remodeling some of the units. The ones that have been redone are beautiful, so if you can get one of those, housing is a great option. There are also tons of great rentals available out on town. With the casinos and universities in the area, it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s really a renter?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s market ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú you can find apartment complexes, historic homes, multi-family units, duplexes, just about any kind of home for rent. Prices vary quite a bit depending on which town you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re in. The closer you are to the base, the more expensive housing is. As you get further out towards Norwich, prices drop pretty dramatically. Groton, Ledyard, Gales Ferry, and Waterford are all close to the base and have a reputation as being safe communities. New London and Norwich are more "urban" and the neighborhood reputations vary depending on where you live in each city. Uncasville & Montville are between the two in location and reputation.
