We have orders to Shriever and so far everyone he works with lives off base. Also what I love is there is a pet TLF at Peterson. I don't have to board 2 of our 3 dogs. Which will save us a ton of money.

We cannot get over how many homes off base are empty. So many foreclosures and short sales. We cannot decide right now whether to buy or build. We have a 15 yr old and 11 yr old and we'd like them both to either attend Vista Ridge or a high school in district 20. I didn't realize how stressful house shopping could be. ----Posted May 2011

If you have orders to Peterson and you can\\\'t or don\\\'t want to get into housing on base try and see if you can get into Air Force Academy Housing. Academy housing is not really close - you are looking at about 30 minutes but it might be worth it. Carson is at the south end of the Springs so the Academy is also an option for folks stationed on Carson, however the Academy has rules, not sure what they are who gets to live there..... Remember that at the north end the weather is always a bit \\\'worse\\\' meaning stormier snowier.?Ç That said please consider that Colorado Springs actually has a very nice and tolerable climate so when I say snowier and colder we are not talking about a huge flex in temps. However when it snows the difference can be 1/2 or 1 foot of snow. I ve seen it. Fortunately the weather doesn\\\'t stay here for long. Ppl say: If you don\\\'t like the weather wait 15 minutes :-). Housing at the Academy has gotten rave reviews and lots of them have been renovated. Until recently not sure if its still the case house were available up there pretty quickly.

?Ç see the houseson?Ç usafaliving.com. You can also go to www.afcrossroads.com. Scroll down to relocation. Click on military. Scroll down to Automated Housing Referral Network. If you are not registered it will ask you to. Once that is done you can do a look-up of Peterson and all the housing comes up with pictures and floor plans.

Last but not least you can go to the FB page Moving House for the Military Spouse there you can find pictures from other spouses that are in military housing.

Housing on Peterson is pretty good lots of new built housing. There are however still some quadplexes that have not gotten good grades.
