There is off installation government housing, that is spread throughout the
communities and towns. A lot of people live of post. I have heard remarks about the housing that housing was not that great, but they really loved
living there which made up for some of the not so great housing. As with a lot of overseas installation, there is good and bad, but the mix of
of not being able to speak the local language, being unfamiliar with the area, knowing what BAH the soldiers receive sums up to sometimes a not
very nice living quarters. For off post housing, make sure you also check ahrn.com.
One of your first stops should be the housing office and get signed up and learn how the housing process works.

About houses, as anywhere the size of your family will determine the size of your house.Houses are smaller than American houses, and tight. Stairways do usually not allow for large furniture, boxsprings or mattresses. BTW Europeans do NOT have boxsprings, nowadays you will find more queen and kingsize beds and mattresses in Europe, but traditionally you would have 2 single/twin mattresses. ( maybe that?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s why they don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t need large stairways?)

Amstenrade about 5 minutes from schinnen thats the actual army base here

The International Housing Office is the starting point in your search for suitable housing within the local area since they maintain contact with

real-estate agents as well as private landlords. IHO is negotiating rental and living conditions and they provide a wide variety of housing assistance.

One real estate agency (makelaar) that has an agreement with housing office, will waive their normal fee (usually 1 months rent). http://www.ruijters.nl/

I read about http://www.funda.nl/ Enter your min/max rent, choose the city (?¢‚Ǩ?ìplaatsnaam?¢‚Ǩ¬ù = name of city) or all cities (= ?¢‚Ǩ?ìalle plaatsen?¢‚Ǩ¬ù). See if your landlord would not mind using housings rental contract, which includes the military clause. Definitely, go to the Housing office once you have found a house to help you translate and negotiate. Though a most speak english, you might not catch one or the other
thing. Better safe than sorry.
