Torey A. says: Hi Amanda! I lived in CO my whole life then we PCS'd here to WA state. We lived in Colorado Springs for a good 3 years while my husband was at Carson. Although we didn't have children then all my friends and family raved about district 20 schools. They are great schools so look into that district. I know it is further north from post but may be well worth the drive. Also not sure of your budget for housing but I would advise living up north somewhere off of Power's Blvd (a main road that goes through the Springs) like Briargate/Stetson Hills area. Many military want to stay south because it's close to post like in Fountain or on South Academy (another main road that goes through the Springs) but some of the areas are pretty worn down although they do have some ok newer neighborhoods. Register with and check into AHRN.com for housing and prices. Hope this helps!

Torey A. says: I've met so many military families who have been to Ft. Carson and absolutely loved it and have ended up staying buying a house and settling there. I've also talked to many families who have requested it and can't get it because it's so full. The one and ONLY complaint I've heard about it is some of the older housing neighborhoods on post aren't that great but if you don't plan on living on post then it's not an issue. If you do request to live in the newer housing since they have built A LOT of new neighborhoods recently.

I'd look for off post housing as mentioned there are newer neighborhoods which are nice but most of them are older. District 20 is basically hailed as the Mecca of schools here but I haven't actually heard complaints for any other districts.
