Review of: 2010-05-31

Well J-ville (thats short for Jacksonville - it's what all the locals call this place got to keep up you know!) is not SO bad. We waited about 9 to almost 10 months to get our house (which worked out because my husband was deployed most of that time and I stayed with family in our home state).

They are renovating all the homes on Camp Lejeune and let me tell you I don't know what they looked like before - but to me these homes are beautiful! There are hardwood floors throughout the home and it has a really open floor plan. I couldn't be happier. The bedrooms are perfect in size and we also have a 'family room' which we turned into an office/reading area. We also have a very good size yard for our girls to play openly.

We are one of the fortunate ones to have to 'woods' in our yard as added privacy (most homes are back to back with another home and thus 'share' their yard. Oh and the bathrooms! We have two very nice bathrooms â?? one being a very large master bath (woo-hoo) you def have LOTS of room in there! My favorite part of my extra-spacey bathroom is the 'his and hers' sinks! (So very oh la la)

The location of the homes on main side is really nice too. Secluded from (what I like to call) the 'workers circle'(where all the traffic dwells no matter the time of day) but still close enough to everything (exits hospital and commissary). There are also at least 3 parks within walking distance - which is perfect for families with children.

Walk through was 'okay'. It was mostly us telling them what was wrong. The morning we arrived (like 4am) we discovered the heat was not working (and it was cold!!!). I was impressed by the rapid response though and they did get it eventually working and finally completely fixed (after about 2 days). The next couple days when we had the companies come out and install our cable and telephone line we discovered that just about every jack and outlet was dead. Another call to housing and another tech right over to fix it. So even though it was a pain - they did have good response time. Now I just have a few light bulbs that are dead and a leaky toilet but eh - I'll call for that later on.

Marisol

i lived out in town for 8 months in Swansboro. i moved into base housing in June of 2009 which was a year and a half ago. i LOVE midway park. houses are new. all two or three bedroom homes. you don't pay electric or water. the maintenance team is great and they don't ask questions. housing isn't always in our business they do leave notices if a flower bed needs weeded decorations need taken down or you leave your trash can out after it should be brought back in. but i LOVE living on base and would recommend it to anyone =)
