Please help- PCSing from Honolulu Hawaii to N.C . in November 2011. I have a 14yr (9th grader) and a 12yr (7th grader).
we currently live on base housing on Hickam AFB even though we are Army. The convenience is great but there is no ?¢‚Ǩ?ìprivacy?¢‚Ǩ¬ù so to speak. If anyone knows of a quiet little area with some decent 3- 4 bedroom homes with a good high school and a middle school near by please let me know. Or If I must do housing to get acclimated to the area please tell where NOT to live if it is easier than telling me where to live. The high school being the most important factor due to my daughter attending.
I plan to make North Carolina a permanant residence due to husbands possible retirement in the next 2 years. All I really need to know is: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.. Please please help.

You can get fencing on onpost housing. They have two companies that you rent fences from. you pay the installation/removal fee and then pay

Another answer to a Ft.Bragg housing Q?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Tracey writes: ?¢‚Ǩ?ìhey we will out in hoke county in Raeford. i can tell that we have never lived on post but when i drive around i do see houses with fences. i don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t knwo how they get them or do it though. honestly you just have to make a pros and con list of living on or off post. if you live on post you don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t get bah but you don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have to pay rent. but if you life off post you get bah. if you find a place for less than your bah then you actually make money living off post. we do! i did look into living on post when we came here but there were waiting lists pretty much for everything. i don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t know what it is like now though. we pay 900 a month for a 3br/2bath with bonus room. we are moving (buying) though. and it just depends on the owners of the house. whether they even allow dogs or not. you have to check. and about the crime?¢‚Ǩ¬¶well its just like every other big city. we are from charlotte so its nothing new for us. if you are worried about it you can check out the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìblack list?¢‚Ǩ¬ù which is a list of places that military are not allowed to go or live. but i think the crime is just talked about more here because it might involve military so it is considered a ?¢‚Ǩ?ìbig deal?¢‚Ǩ¬ù. hope you find what you are looking for!?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

From the discussion board on Facebook.com/militarydutystations as answer to Ft.Bragg Q?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s: Kerstin writes: I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m living here in Fayetteville since 13 years and I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m always surprised about the rumors that are still around. First let me tell you that crime is not worse here than in other cities in fact it is better than in other cities. There are many nice neighborhoods and it just depends on where you want to live. I get phone calls sometimes when people ask me for a house up to $650 in a ?¢‚Ǩ?ìgood?¢‚Ǩ¬ù neighborhood. Well that is probably not going to happen because you need to spend a little more than that. A friend of mine lives on post and they had to put up their own fence. But you might get lucky and get the house with the fence somebody put up already who knows. And one more thing German Shephard Chow Pittbull Rottweiler and Doberman are considered dangerous breeds (according to the insurance companies) and it is hard to find somebody who will rent to you. I hope this information is helpful. When you are closer to your move date (about 1 month out) I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m happy to help you with finding a house off post. My e-mail is kerstinluchau@yahoo.com just write me short note this way I can start looking and send you a few rentals over the internet. Hope to hear from you and good luck with your move.

Hope Mills and Southern Pines has been recommended for living. Raeford which is about 20 minutes from Fayetteville (gut you can enter via Chicken Rd. gate). When you do your research you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll find that there are a lot of neighborhoods with fairly high crime however a lot of times the ?¢‚ǨÀúgood?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ and the ?¢‚ǨÀúbad?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ neighborhoods are mixed so it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s hard to find something unless you are THERE.
