Gina E. asks We are pcsing to Fort Campbell soon and there is a waiting list for housing. My question is when we rent our house are the kids allowed to go to the base schools or will they have to switch schools again once we get on post?

Kimberly said about Housing of base:We currently just PCS'd back to Fort Campbell in May and built a house. Having only six years left to hit the 20 mark we decided to build. Living off post is different you don't have the security feeling that on post living offers. Prices for houses are actually not too bad if you really get out there and look. Renting was as much as a mortgage payment in a lot of the areas. There are reasonable rent rates as well. Lots of apartment living everywhere. Providence is a bad neighborhood to live in. All you have to do is drive around and you will see apartment complexes town houses and little houses to rent. They are everywhere!!! Traffic is ridiculous here and that is with all capital letters RIDICULOUS! Tiny Town Road awful and dangerous. If people would drive smart and defensive it would be safer. You are more than likely waiting in line to get on post and off post for an extended period of time during the busy times like morning PT after and before/after work..and lunch of course. Good places to live as far as sub divisions would be Fields of Northmeade Plantation Estates Franklin Meadows...those are the only ones I can think of that I have been through. There are others just don't know the names off hand. If you are buying I would highly suggest Jennifer O'Farrell at Keller Williams and only her. She is AMAZING!!!! We had no idea who sheWe lived in on post housing for 5 years and had no problems. We lived in Pierce Village which is an older neighborhood and in Summers Park which was newly built when we moved into that house. I prefer Summers Park just for the "newness" but honestly we never had issues in Pierce Village. I have to say and this was 5 years ago when we did the move out inspection it was brutal. I had a spot of wax on one floor that was the size of a baby mattress and on my stove the upper ring was not completely clean...I failed and ended up having to pay the two hundred and something dollar fee for move out cleaning because they only gave me five minutes to fix the problems. Wasn't possible. That was at Pierce Village. The move out at Summers Park I just paid the move out cleaning fee and called it a day. That is the only issue I've ever had actually. Maintenance would be there when we needed them the housing office was always quick to help when needed. The wait time for our move in 2002 was 9 months and that was during a deployment. Fort Campbell has made this such a family/kid friendly post with parks everywhere. They have upgraded most of their parks and they are quite nice! was before we made contact with her. Found her through a friend on facebook actually during a conversation and she ended up being an amazing realtor who actually worked for us. I can't say enough good about her!.....................                           she said about housing on post:  ...We lived in on post housing for 5 years and had no problems. Kimberly said: My son attended Elementary and Middle School here on post and we had no problems for the most part. The middle school was a bit over dramatic as far as certain things. My daughter attended middle school and high school here on post. Same over dramatic issues at the same middle school but I think it was actually the Principal that was over dramatic more or less not sure. Really didn't have issues other than a few and not just with my kids I'm talking as a whole. The high school it's a great great school!!!! The education they learn there excels. They have the ROTC program sports and an awesome football program! I was very impressed with Fort Campbell High School. I love the fact that you can live on post and your kids can go to school on post from KG to graduation! Not all posts offer that! My son is currently attending Austin Peay State University. They have a wide variety of courses and are becoming a very well known Unive rsity. They offer an abundance of programs as well. It's a very nice college and the campus is easy to navigate once you learn our buildings. My son so far enjoys it there.

Schools/Special Ed/Education options

Tell us what we should know! Our kids are graduated from high school, we have two. Our son went to Lincoln Elementary and Wassom Middle School. Lincoln was great and Wassom was okay. They were picky about things and went a bit overboard with this and that. Our daughter went to Wassom Middle School and Fort Campbell High School. Wassom was same when she went, a little overboard with certain things. Fort Campbell High School was amazing!!!! I would live on post just so my child could go to FCHS. It?「どィび「s a school above the rest. The curriculam is outstanding the minus one member of the faculty, it?「どィび「s a great great school!!!!! They have a great sports department as well. Our daughter and her husband are stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas currently so she is attending college there at UTEP. Our son is attending Austin Peay State University here in Clarksville. It?「どィび「s 10 minutes up the road from house. He will start his freshman year this month. This is a great state college and I am impressed with the overall school itself. They offer great great programs and so many clubs etc. I?「どィび「m excited to become involved as a parent.

We are PCS?「どィび「ng there in late July and will be staying in temporary housing on post for about 30 days or so. We are getting put on the housing waiting list but will most likely look for housing off post until we can get on post housing. Since we will be living on post in temp housing to start and school will be starting soon after our arrival will our children be able to attend school on post. My desire is that they attend the on post school but since we are in temp housing will they be able to? Thank you so much.

Off post schools for my kids, Hazelwood Elementary, Northeast Elementary and Northeast Middle Schools have been wonderful. I really like Hazelwood but Northeast Elementary was just as good. The middle school has been so so for us because my daughter is in resource classes. If you have a special needs child, I?「どィび「d suggest living on post so your child can attend schools there.
