Rachel K. asks: Do the houses on post have fenced in back yards? We have a rather large dog 130lb. Dane/lab mix and this guy needs a back yard.

Megan W. says: Most do. If they do not you can rent one.

Housing on installation?

Tell us how your experience. We lived in housing the first time we were stationed here. Lived at Pierce Village for 4 years and Summers Park for 1 year. Pierce Village has older homes but have been revamping them from what I?「どィび「m told. Summers Park were new homes that were just completed. I enjoyed living at both. The move in was extremely easy and the move out was pretty easy as well. I would suggest you don?「どィび「t try to clean yourself, you will not pass. The waiting time was about 9 months to get into housing. The housing service was decent overall. I liked living over in Summers Park best.

Housing off installation?

Tell us, give us tips! When getting here for our second adventure at Fort Campbell, we noticed the rent was high for houses that suited us. There are some good apartments in the area but we have animals so finding something to fit us all was leaving apartments out as an option. My suggestion would be to make a trip or two to the area to look for houses/apartments after you have done some extensive searching on the internet. If you are buying, I would 100% suggest you use Jennifer O?「どィび「Farrell from Keller Williams as your real estate agent. Just her, no one else from office. She is amazing and went above and beyond for us during our home search! She can possibly help you find rentals as well. We ended up having a home built, ended up being cheaper than buying a preowned house that suited us and the monthly payment is what it would cost us in rent. Traffic here is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! It?「どィび「s so busy and people are crazy behind the wheel. You MUST be a defensive driver to drive here!!!

Housing on installation? So far its okay we have had some issues with them but would rather live on post than off and we have done both. It took us about 2 months to get a house but some waited as long as a year and a half. Hammond heights duplexes are where we live they are pretty nice, not the worst. Lee Park is very nice but bigger housing, Werner park is also nice. Pierce isn?「どィび「t the greatest or Lapointe.

what is the housing like?

Housing for single soldiers on post is barracks, if I?「どィび「m not mistaken. I can?「どィび「t really say what they are like. I saw my husbands?「どィび「 units?「どィび「 barracks years ago, but they have been remodeling them while the soldiers are deployed, as well as building new ones with plans to move some units around.

Housing for families varies greatly on post. There are a number of old neighborhoods, and some new neighborhoods. One of the oldest neighborhoods was finally torn down this past fall, it was ghetto for sure, lol. One other old neighborhood is supposed to be renovated, but no real idea as to when that will be. The old neighborhoods were built around the 70?「どィャ?s, so they have to hand out lead paint notices, and they don?「どィび「t like to admit it, but the older homes are infested with brown recluses. There are a number of gyms, community centers, playgrounds, etc.

We live off of exit 1, I-24. We love it here and it?「どィび「s about 20 minutes from Gate 3 which on the TN side. We bought a house and have to pay a little out of pocket to have something really nice and be in a good school zone but to us it was worth because the waiting list for post 5 years ago was quite long. I?「どィび「d suggest living on the Clarksville side if you like city and Oak Grove and Hopkinsville, KY side if you like more country.

Opinion:

They do have some new on post housing. There does not seem to be that many rentals to choose from but I have learned that folks prefer living in Clarksville, TN (specifically the Sango area) over Hopkinsville, KY. It was mentioned to avoid Providence and Riverside.

+ Exit 1(nearest to post) has more theft
