My children and I have never seen an on-base doc at the clinic. We had the option to switch from Tri-Care to US Family Health Plan and I jumped on it! I have never had to wait days or weeks for an appointment, I can pick my own doctor and can change doctors at anytime. I have not heard anything good about the on-base clinic so I am very happy with my choice. Our FNP will be one of the few things I miss when/if we ever PCS. Also, cost wise the only difference is that you cannot use the pharmacy on base. The co-pays for Rx are small and with USFHP you can use the mail order pharmacy and get 3 months worth of meds at one time for one co-pay.
