We lived both on base and off. I perferred on base because the apartments are really small and the neighborhood around MacDill is not the greatest. If you get the new housing, I would def. recommend staying on base. If they only offer you old housing, I would move off base. There are some really nice houses and apartments for rent in Brandon, Ruskin, Riverview, and New Tampa, but they are all about 20 ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú 40 mins out.

I am moving to MacDill next year in November and I am really nervous. We think we want to buy a house but I am wondering if it would be more worth our money to just live on post!
