We?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re in base housing, and it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s actually one of the older houses they are going to demolish and rebuild, but it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s still a very nice house.

We lived in the old housing on Locust street. Hopefully it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s torn down but I doubt it;) I know housing is building a lot of new stuff. Minuteman housing is being re-done so the families displaced there have first dibs on the new stuff from what I heard. The new stuff does not have basements because of the underground water system.

You want to either live on base, fox farm or the nw side of town

The housing is almost all new. A two bedroom duplex has a downstairs with a sitting room, kitchen, laundry room, dining room, living room and single car garage. Upstairs there is a master bedroom, bathroom, second bedroom and office that could be used as a spare bedroom or third bedroom. This is just one of the examples of housing for E4 and above. They also have six-plexes for E3 and below that are very nice for a new family. And all of the housing in on base but they are in the process of privatizing them. And Malmstrom is not in city limits.

Military Family Housing:(MFH):

Malmstrom has 1,406 military family housing units consisting of four basic styles; Wherry, Capehart, Relocatable and our newly constructed replacement units. Of these, 248 units are designated for officers and the rest for enlisted members. All units are equipped with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage disposal. Newly constructed and renovated units are also equipped with carpet and air conditioning.

Housing Application:

To be eligible for military family housing, the military member must be in a PCS status with an assignment of six months or more at Malmstrom and be accompanied by dependents. A housing application form (DD Form 1746) must be completed in order to be placed on the housing waiting list. Please go to your local Housing Office, Bldg 130, to complete a DD Form 1746.

Waiting List:

Advanced applications are placed on the waiting list the first day of the month prior to arrival. The waiting list is updated weekly and is available from the link below. For further information please call DSN 632-3056/4623 or Commercial (406) 731-3056/4623.

(8/2010 ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú there might have been recent changes to the waiting list procedures -the Army has changed them for sure. Anyhow, these changes might not be reflected in this information)

Availability of Housing:

Ample family housing is available at Malmstrom and in the Great Falls area. We recommend you contact our family housing office at DSN 632-4623/3056 or Commercial (406) 731-4623/3056 for more details on your individual circumstances.
