  • Jazzma G. says: In Ft. Hood Cove is great to live the biggest advice is stay far away from COLONIAL RENTAL PROPERTY IN HARKER HEIGHTS!!! As for Bliss Im from there and know that almost all of the on post housing is brand new and off post the Northeast is a short drive from the main gate however if your looking to buy El Paso has a lot of brand new areas that are very well priced right now.

  • Cynthia M. says: Been at Bliss 12 to 18 months. There is new and old house on and off post. When looking for non-base housing before you buy or rent make sure what part of base solider will be on....there is Bliss Biggs and East Bliss. You don't want live on one side of town and work on the other because the commute is awful here.

  • Melanie B. says: Personally lived in copperas cove... Great place to live. Schools are excellent!! Most shopping is in Harker Heights or Austin. If u need a realtor I advise Coldwell banker united realtors/cove office.

  • Tara A. says: I'm at Bliss and when we first moved here the housing list was long so we found a home outside of post and the neighborhood were in is quiet and nice. As for schools on post I've heard that its crappy and seem to be slow when it comes to academics and curriculum. That district is El Paso ISD. We are in the Socorro ISD and its apparently the best district in town. Good curriculum and attendence records. My daughter likes the school she is in and I do too.

  • Brandy G. says: My husband is at Ft. Bliss but we live off post. Ft. Bliss is very slow with its housing process. My husband son of 8mths and I where held up in a hotel for almost a month and where told about two or three times that they would or they have a house for us and finally after waiting and taking out AER loans to pay for our hotel we rented off base. My advise is get on the housing list long before you get here or look at houses for rent right by the base. We are about 5 minutes via freeway from Biggs air field where my husbands unit is. Hope this helps!

  • Susan C. says: Been to Bliss 3x now by far the best is Socorro (SISD) district (far east) kids attended Lujan Chavez Elementary Sun Ridge Middle(they are attached in one building and newer) and El Dorado HS.All were fine no complaints overall. One piece of advice is rent in that district I dont believe there is any base housing that far east took us 12 long months to sell our house when we PCSd in 2009. We lived in sun ridge nice neighborhood as far as El Paso goes right by the Target off loop 375. Have also lived on post and west side years ago before kids.Be careful of the schools "right by the base" EPISD. Researching is a good approach. There is also the Ysleta district falling between Socorro and El paso in geographically and in quality.

  • Rhiannon W. says: We were at Hood years ago but at the time the school our kids were going to was excellent. Venable Elementary was absolutely wonderful! The housing is nothing fancy but it was good for the most part. Just don't miss cutting that grass. Doesn't have to be very tall to get you a citation. (If it reaches your ankles cut it).
